Obituary for Deborah Louise Smith (Gould)

Deborah Louise Smith (Gould)
Vondel Smith Mortuary at South Lakes

Memorial Service: 3:00 P.M. Wednesday July 25, 2012
Location: South Lakes Chapel (at the funeral home)

Smith, Deborah L. ("Debbie"), 56, surrounded by her loving family, passed away from breast cancer on July 21, 2012 at her home. Debbie was born in Houston, TX on August 25, 1955 to William and Paula (Williams) Gould.

Debbie was born in Texas, but spent the majority of her life in Oklahoma. She considered herself an Oklahoman and was an avid Sooners and Thunder fan. She loved to read and spend time with her family.
Debbie's proudest accomplishments in life were not her own but those of her family. She always put. the happiness and welfare of her family before her own. If her family was happy, she was happy. She was kind, loving, and generous. She was strong and fearless. She was a patriot and protector of the underdog. She was everything a husband could want in a wife, a daughter could want in a mother, and a grandchild could want in a grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her father and sister Velva "Happy" Gould. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert M. Smith of the home; two daughters, Ginger Green and husband Tyson; Robin Knightly and husband Kevin; her mother Paula Gould; four brothers: Billy, David, Pete and Ronnie Gould; and two grandchildren: Zachary Green and Keegan Knightly.

Debbie told her daughters that if she got well she never wanted to wear solid black or solid brown colored clothes again. She would surround herself with bright colors. Since she did not get her wish, we are asking those of you who wish to attend to only wear bright colors as we will help to surround her. Dress is casual.
