Obituary for Sandra Deane (Stagg) Vann

Sandra (Stagg) Vann was born August 14, 1937 in Tulsa, OK the daughter of Joe and Mary Stagg. Once Sandra was born, her family returned to Caracas, Venezuela and remained there for 20 years. Sandra’s father worked for Standard Oil of New Jersey, which later became Exxon Oil. Sandra spoke fluent Spanish and was frequently mistaken as native Venezuelan. Her stories of her life in Venezuela were captivating! She is an honorary life member of the “Venezuela Oil Brats”. Sandra returned to Oklahoma in 1957. She then attended Oklahoma A & M (now OSU) earning a degree in Elementary Education. Sandra was a diehard OSU fan the rest of her life! She taught elementary school at Mark Twain and Edgemere in OKC Public Schools. Sandra lived in various small Oklahoma towns, Seminole, Hooker and Poteau where she was a member of the Church of Christ. Sandra enjoyed challenging games of Yahtzee with her best friend, Madene McCormick, Jeopardy and hosting Bible studies in her home. She was married to Allen Vann. Sandra is survived by her daughter, Kim Bauer and her husband Bud of OKC; her son, Kevin Callaway of Las Vegas, NV; her brother, Bob Stagg and his wife Ethel of San Diego, CA; her grandson Alex Callaway and his wife Gina of Yuma, AZ; her step-son, Dan Vann and his wife Marsha of Edmond, OK and Ronnie Vann of Houston, TX; and last and not least, her rescue dog, Maggie. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9th, in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur.
