Glenda Blanche Doner, 78, passed away on February 1, 2017 after battling a lengthy illness. She was born April 8, 1938 in Muskogee, OK to Kermit and Blanche (Ledbetter) Horn. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by all.

Glenda married Richard, the love of her life, on June 14, 1957 and viewed her role as his helpmate as her greatest privilege. To her three beloved children, she was their steadfast advocate and cheerleader. Abundantly energetic, fearless, and resourceful, she always wanted the best: never for herself, but for everyone she loved. Those who came to know Glenda, even if briefly, could feel instantly the warmth of her endless generosity and hospitality.

Glenda loved Jesus from a young age and passionately pointed others to Him throughout her life. To suggest that Glenda had a servant’s heart is too small a description for how well she loved others through serving. Glenda embodied the principle of God first, others second, and herself third. She could frequently be found praying over every member of her family by name and prioritized her relationship with her loved ones above all else.

Glenda’s love for Jesus and her wisdom given by Him lives on in her own words. After receiving a devastating diagnosis of her prolonged illness, she wrote “What a wonderful chance to tell everyone that in my spirit I can sing and shout for joy. It’s only the beginning and there is something so much worse: not accepting Jesus as your savior and spending all eternity separated from Him. Glory and victory in Jesus Christ alone."

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Earl Doner, MD; son, Richard E. Doner and wife Chrysi; daughters, Amy Loper and husband Eric & Rachel Shingleton and husband Simon; brother, Kermit Horn and wife Cheryl; sisters, Judy Pixley and husband Benny, Penny Stockstill and husband Johnny, JoAnn Porter and husband Billy & Patsy Ashley and husband Ronnie; 8 cherished grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Blanche and Kermit Horn.

“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”
