Norma Lee Jabara, 88, of Oklahoma City, passed away on February 9, 2017. Norma was born in Oilton, Oklahoma on January 23, 1929, to Farris and Watfa (Eddie) Jabara. She graduated from Oilton High School in 1946 as Salutatorian, and from the University of Oklahoma in 1950. Her professional career included administrative positions with several companies in cities including Houston, San Francisco, Dallas, and Los Angeles. Norma is best remembered for her role as Vice President at Rainbow Travel, where she worked from 1978 to her retirement in 2014. She was highly skilled as a tour planner, organizing and hosting tours all over the world. Norma was a certified “Virtuoso Voyages Host” and a Certified Travel Agent. Her exceptional writing can still be seen in company brochures and biographies. She was truly a “trail blazer” for women of her day and personified beauty and “class” in all that she did. Norma was a primary caregiver to her beloved Aunt Zakia and sister, Ruth Jabara, always devoting her life to others. She loved her family, and was a special “Normie” to her nieces and nephews. She presented them all with special gifts with perfectly chosen greeting cards personalized with her elegant handwriting. There was no greater enthusiastic OU and OKC Thunder fan in the state! Many people walk in and out of our lives, but few leave a lasting impression like Norma. She leaves a legacy of unwavering kindness, unselfishness, strength and determination to all who knew and loved her. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, beloved Aunt Zakia Jabara, sister Ruth Jabara, and brothers Mose, Sam, & Eddie Jabara. She is survived by her nieces & nephews: Sherlyn Craig & husband Sam, Steve Jabara, Bryan Jabara & wife Barbara, and Gina Jabara; great nieces & nephews: Rene Patterson, Kim Hensley, Jan Duenas, Don Parker, Lisa Jabara-May, Leslie Wrenn, Ryan Craig, Corey Craig, and Kyle, Chad & Chase Jabara. Donations may be made to St. Elijah Orthodox Church and League for the Blind. Family visitation will be Sunday, February 12th, 2 to 5 pm at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary North. Funeral service will be Monday, February 13th at 10:30 AM at St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church.
