Lowell William Meier was born near Middletown, Missouri, on July 17, 1927, to Martin F. and Lillian Venetta Meier. His life on this earth came to a close on May 13, 2017, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, when he rejoined the love of his life, Mary Louise Poolman Meier in Eternal Life. The life he lived on this earth was fully lived and there is much that could be said about those years. Lowell accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, valued education to an extreme, respected hard work, duty to our Country and unyielding commitment to his family and friends.

In 1947, after serving in World War II, Lowell became employed at McDonnell Aircraft (now Boeing). He married Mary Louise Poolman at the Methodist Church in Olney, Missouri, on November 12, 1950, and settled into the role of parent and provider for his family in St. Charles, Missouri. Lowell and Mary were active in their church, the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and PTA. Lowell was always willing to volunteer to help those undertaking a worthwhile pursuit. He served as a Board Member of Missouri Farm Bureau and the American Legion Post in Wentzville. Lowell had the ability to fix just about anything mechanical and he loved working. While working at McDonnell Douglas, he was a project manager over many of the military aircraft final delivery programs involving the F-4 Phantom, F-15 Strike Eagle, FA-18 Hornet and Harrier AV-8 VTOL aircraft for all branches of our military and delivered planes to our allies around the world. He completed his career in Geelong, Australia, in the final assembly and flight test of the Australian version of the FA-18 Hornet. In 2015, Lowell relocated to Oklahoma City to be close to his son and family.

Lowell is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sherry Meier; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Douglas and Virginia Meier, and great-granddaughter, Mary Evans Meier, and new great-granddaughter due next month, all of Raleigh, North Carolina; further survived by son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jennifer Meier, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Steven and Lydia Meier, great-granddaughter and great-grandson, Kara and Wesley Meier, all of Annandale, New Jersey; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, John and Mariko Meier, and great-granddaughter, Maeve Meier, all of Boston, Massachusetts; grandson, Michael Beam, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and grandson, Ryan Beam, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; further survived by son and daughter-in-law, David and Sheila Meier, of Wentzville, Missouri; granddaughter, Emily Meier, of Bevier, Missouri; grandson, Nicholas Meier, of Blacksburg, Virginia; grandson, Adam Meier, of Ames, Iowa; further survived by sister, Naomi Duvel, of Silex, Missouri; brother and sister-in-law, Marion and Shirley Meier, of Bowling Green, Missouri; and sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Sonny Leonard, of Bellflower, Missouri; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Lowell was predeceased by his parents, wife, Mary Meier, daughter-in-law, Patty Meier, brother-in-law, Bill Duvel, and niece, Diane Duvel.
