Edward Maurice Courtney went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the age of 96. He was born May 2, 1921 in Konawa, Oklahoma, to his parents, Homer and Estelle Courtney, Ed served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a petroleum landman for nearly 30 years. As a member of Kentucky Avenue Baptist Church for over 70 years, Ed was active in all aspects of the church. His service to others was evident in all he did in living as a true disciple of the Lord. He enjoyed spending many hours visiting the sick in hospitals and nursing homes. Ed had a heart for missions and was president of the Mission Mailbag ministry during its many years of operation. He will be deeply missed.
