Obituary for David Woodson Kirk

David Woodson  Kirk
David Woodson Kirk was born January 19, 1957 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma the son of Myrl Stuart and Ruth Carolyn (Stewart) Kirk.

David was raised in Oklahoma City where he graduated from John Marshall High School in 1975. He graduated from the College of William and Mary with a B.A. in History and Philosophy in 1979. He went on to graduate from the O.U. College of Law in 1985. After being admitted to the Oklahoma Bar, he practiced law for over 30 years in Oklahoma City and finished his career as a partner at Lytle, Soule and Curlee.

David could play the guitar just like a ringing a bell! A known multi-instrumentalist, David’s life could be measured by the bands he covered and the venues he played. From strumming The Beatles at coffee shop open mics to jamming in the International Blues Competition, his lifelong dedication to music brought him clarity and joy. Even in the worst times, David always held a guitar.

David was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge #36 where he served as Worshipful Master.

He is survived by his parents, Carolyn and Stuart Kirk; his son, Ford Kirk, his daughters Anna Kirk and Callie Kirk and her husband Alex Webb, his step-sons, Ted Prince and Mark Prince; his sister, Mary Kirk Wenger and husband Matt; his brother, Tom Kirk and wife Hilary. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews: Teodora Kirk, David Wenger, Colin Wenger, Rachel Wenger, Sophia Kirk and Giorgia Kirk.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Vondel Smith Mortuary North, 13125 N. MacArthur. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 W. Hefner RD. Private family interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

MacArthur Blvd. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 7th at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 W. Hefner Road. Private family interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
