Condolence From: GK
Condolence: I just wanted to tell the family of Marie Rhodes how special she was. I grew up on SW 67th, a few houses down from Marie, and visiting her at her home was always such a wonderful experience for myself and all the young kids of the neighborhood. In the early-mid 80's she had an Atari game console with TONS of different games to play. The neighborhood kids would visit her often and play Atari and enjoy the snacks and refreshments she offered us. I remember her talking about Bridge the card game and trying to teach some of us to play, but I never caught on, I was too young to understand the complexity of the game. Marie's house was basically the neighborhood Arcade, and she was a great hostess and mentor who would engage us in conversation and ask us how we were doing in school and things like that. She really was an amazing person and I'm sad to see that she has now passed.

Anyway, I just found this obituary on a random rabbit hole search and wanted to say that Marie Rhodes was definitely the most amazing person on my block when I was growing up in SW OKC. She was kind to all the neighborhood kids and offered us a cool place to spend time after school. And I don't remember any specific lessons she taught me, but I do remember her being very wise, helpful, and encouraging. I'm so blessed to have grown up in a time where you had caring, loving neighbors like Marie who would feed and entertain the neighborhood kids and you could trust them to be good role models and more or less be volunteer babysitters for with no compensation.

Your dear Marie blessed many children and gave them a better childhood, and I know that our Heavenly Father will bless her with many gifts for the 93 years she spent serving her community. Peace and love to the Rhodes family, Marie was a lovely woman who I will never forget.
