Sara Sue "Susie"  Norwood
Sara Sue (Susie) Norwood, 77, of Oklahoma City passed away peacefully on November 27th 2017. Susie was born on October 21st, 1940 in Paris, Texas to Herbert and Dorothy (Davis) Derryberry. Susie loved people and that carried over into everything she did in her life. Among her other accomplishments, she opened the first Casual Corner Store at Heritage Park Mall working as a sales consultant and manager. She enjoyed meeting new people. She did so well, she was moved into upper management and opened a new prototype Casual Corner store in Penn Square Mall. Susie was good at helping women find the perfect outfit or suit for that special event or important job interview. She would travel all over the state teaching women how to dress for success. Her love for people and fashion made her a joy to work for and many of her employees are still friends today. She retired to spend more time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She had many women who consider her to be their second Mom and her grandchildren love their Mimi who brought so much fun, joy and love into their lives. Susie was a faithful member of Crossings Community Church and loved attending Bible Study Fellowship, (BSF). She had an incredible gift of making things beautiful, whether it was through fashion, food or fun. Susie looked forward to her annual trip to Destin Florida with friends and family. She loved attending all her grandchildren’s events and loving on their friends. She was full of life and our lives will never be the same without her. She is preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Dorothy Derryberry, her two stepsisters Kathy Kirk and Susan Greene, and the love of her life Bill Wilmoth. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Christy Holland and husband Tip of Oklahoma City, OK; Paul and wife Angela of Midwest City, OK; her grandchildren Hank Holland and his wife Brittany, T.J. Holland, Sam Holland, Coby Norwood and Carly Norwood. Also left to cherish her memory are Bill’s Family; Tammy Wasinger and husband Jeff of Fort Worth TX, Donna Smith and husband Mark of Keller TX, and William F. Wilmoth Jr. of Ocean Springs MS; grandchildren Nikki Lundgren, Justin Smith, Ashly Smith, Hannah Wilmoth and Bayley Wilmoth.
A funeral service to remember Susie will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Crossings Community Church Chapel, 14600 N. Portland Ave. OKC, OK. Her interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery in Idabel, Oklahoma.
