Kathleen Rolland Snelgrove, Dec. 8, 1924-Dec. 20, 2017

The Lord brought his true and faithful servant, Kathleen, to his bosom on December 20. She had just turned ninety-three. Her husband David (Chuck) Snelgrove died in 1985. She was the last of her generation. Her five brothers, Robert, Cecil, Gerald, Harold, and Roger all preceded her in death as did all her cousins. She and her brothers were raised on a farm in Vanndale, Arkansas.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, her children, David and Mary his wife, Virgie and her husband Richard Shank, Shirley and her husband Dennis Owen, six grandchildren, Trisha West, Susan Nickelberry, Laura Sobieck, Carla Brown, Scott Owen, and Tracey Boles, and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Petty Officer David Snelgrove was taking a train home on leave in August of 1944. Kathleen was on her way to visit her family. They met. She missed her stop and they were married on the ninth of September in Oklahoma City. Later, when she introduced Chuck to her father as his son-in-law he said "Well, I've been needing one of those." She worked in the defense effort until the end of the war when they settled in Oklahoma City. Kathleen joined Kentucky Avenue Baptist Church and except for three years the family spent in California served there for the rest of her life. She worked at Oklahoma Tire and Supply in Capitol Hill, in the cafeteria at Grant High School, and at Western Electric where she retired in the early 1980s.

She enjoyed working with young people as a Sunday school teacher and as sponsor/cook for the annual Falls Creek Assembly. She was the kindest and most gentle person you could ever meet.
