Doris Helen (Potts) Payne-Layn was born on March 2, 1926, in Caney, Oklahoma. Her parents were John Seaburn and Ida Blanche Potts. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 22, 2017, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 91. She attended Post Oak School and graduated from Caney High School. She married Jack Payne on November 9th, 1946. They owned and operated The Specialty Shop and Classic Creations in Ada, Oklahoma. She continued operating the clothing stores after his death on May 19th, 1988, until her retirement in 1995. She later married Truman Layn, who preceded her in death in November, 2011.

Doris is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Janet and Richard Wood of Oklahoma City and Teresa and Charles Browning of Norman. She is also survived by grandchildren, Tyler Watkins and his wife, Brandi; Lauren Browder and her husband, Phillip; Evan Browning, Carter Browning and his wife, Kiley, and Rebecca Wood Bryan and her husband, Patrick. She is survived by great-grandchildren Claire Browder and Gus, Cormac, Cadel and Maggie Bryan.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents John S. and Ida Potts, siblings John, Seaburn, Fred, Jim, John, Marie, Belle, Ruth and Oleta.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma. Grandsons Tyler Watkins, Evan Browning, Carter Browning, and Phillip Browder will serve as pallbearers. Don Hankey will officiate.
