Calvin Maurice "Reese"  Cooksey
First Viewing for Reese will be Monday, February 26, 2018 from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Second viewing will be Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. Services to celebrate Reese's life will be 2 PM Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the funeral home with burial to follow at 3:30 PM at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City.


Calvin Maurice “Reese” Cooksey passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 86. He was born on December 5, 1931 in Elk City, Oklahoma and raised in Atoka, Oklahoma. The son of John T. Cooksey and Estella (Nichols) Cooksey and he was a resident of Oklahoma City. In his early years, Reese enjoyed playing baseball with his friends and worked as a delivery boy/stocker at a grocery store in Atoka, Oklahoma. After serving with the National Guard, Reese had a couple different jobs before he became a stocker at TGNY Warehouse. He held this position for 5 years and then moved on to A-1 Valve. For 26 years, he was a machinist for A-1 Valve, where he retired from. Reese married the love of his life Mary Bell on July 2, 1950. Reese had a passion for God and his family. He enjoyed reading the Bible continuously. It was something that never got old to him. He also enjoyed spending time and reminiscing about all the good ole days with family and friends. He was an avid musician. He and his wife enjoyed singing and playing music together for over 20 years. Reese was a kind man with a heart of gold and had a smile that could light up the room. His wife will remember the wonderful 67 years they spent together and how even up until his departure he would tell her “you’re my wife of 67 years.” His daughter, Mary Kay will always remember her dad and husband racing cars together. His daughter, Lareesea will always remember her dad standing working on his truck while she was a little girl playing in the yard. His grandchildren will remember him as their hero, super strong and could overcome any obstacle in his way. He will be deeply missed each day.

He was preceded in death by his
Parents, John T. and Estell Cooksey;
Son, Calvin Cooksey;
Daughter, Vicki Cooksey;
5 Brothers;
2 Sisters.

He leaves his loving family:
Wife of 67 years, Mary Bell Cooksey;
Daughter, Mary Kay Doyle of OKC;
Daughter, Lareesea Ann Callahan of Amber, OK;
Grandchildren: Bobby “Scooter” and his wife, Brandy Doyle of OKC, Becky Doyle and partner Lee Giaudrone of Chickasha, OK, Calvin Callahan of Amber, OK, James and his wife Lissa Callahan of Amber, OK, Latisha Callahan of Chickasha, OK, and Bonnie and Kevin Waltrip of Del City, OK;
13 great grandchildren;
10 great great grandchildren;
many other family members and close friends.
