My Buddy Walt

I have so many stories about Walter I could actually write a book, but here is a list of my favorites: 1.) Walt, Gary, Bill, Mike, and I all carpooled to Hefner in 9th grade after we had been re-zoned to go to Central. My sister Elaine always drove us when it was our turn and we would always stop at the Braums on the way home from school. There wasnt room in her 442 for everyone until someone got dropped off so Walt would always end up in the trunk. He always got a triple dip (for those giant hands of his) and hopped right in. We always took Bill home first to Wedgewood Village, that had huge speed bumps that you had to go over. When we finally stopped and opened the trunk, there was Walt with ice cream all over him but he always had the biggest smile and would say How about slowing down next time. He was always such a good sport! 2.) When we were old enough to drive, a few of us would go out to my dads farm and camp out. We would sit around the fire telling stories and drink way too much. One night, Walt decided he would stay up longer then the rest of us and when we woke up the next morning he was sleeping on the hood of my car with M&M;s in his hair, on his clothes, everywhere. He always thought we did it to him but it was all him hiding his M&M;s from the rest of us. I always called it the Chocolate Walt! 3.) The week before the football state championship game Walt and I decided we needed to have the upper hand so we decided to drive over to West and chain up their blocking sled. We jumped in his yellow Camaro and headed out to their practice field. We had just finished putting the second chain and lock on their sled when we see a security guard running toward us with his flashlight shining. We jumped back in his car about the time the guard got to us and Walt floored it but the guard was able to take a few slams to the trunk with his flashlight causing some big dents. The next day at practice we told a few others about it and Daryl Burns said You idiots, you should have chained up OUR sled so we didnt have blocking practice. So many stories, such great times with my good buddy. Thanks for all the memories, Walt!!!
