Obituary for John Roy Streich

John Roy Streich passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the age of 73. He was born on September 20, 1945 in Goltry, Oklahoma to his parents, Roy and Lucy Mae (Shorter) Streich. After graduating from Goltry High School, John continued his education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma, receiving a Bachelor of Science in 1967. He later joined the Army National Guard where he served from 1968-1974. John went to work in 1969 with the Oklahoma Dept. of Wildlife Conservation where he worked for 35 years. He served as the Kay County Game Warden, promoted to District 8 Captain, and served the last 10 years of his career as Colonel of the Law Enforcement Division until he retired in 2005. During his tenure at the department, John met and married his best friend and loving wife of 17 years, Melinda Streich. After retirement in 2005, John spent his time hunting, visiting friends and spending time cheering on his ten grandchildren in their numerous activities. He had a way of reading people and making a personal connection with everyone he met. His love for family and wildlife continued until the day he passed. His love and legacy will live on through all of our memories and stories.

He was preceded in death by his:
Parents, Roy and Lucy Mae Streich;
Daughter Andrea Marie Streich
His beloved bird dogs K.C. and Jane

He leaves behind a family that misses him dearly including his:
Wife of 17 years, Melinda Streich;
Older sister, Gloria Young;
Younger brother, Steve Streich and wife Jan;
Daughter, Jennifer Foster and husband, James;
Daughter, Megan Day and husband, Jeff;
Daughter, Meredith Franklin and husband, Kody;
Son, Garrett Sturgess and wife, Jillian;
10 Grandchildren: Bryce Foster, Andrew Foster, Payton Day, Hailey Day, Sadie Franklin, Kambrie Franklin, Kodi Franklin, Milly Sturgess, Witly Sturgess and Oakly Sturgess;
Many more extended family and friends.
