Obituary for Edna Marie Collins (Kidder)

Edna Marie Collins went to be with her Heavenly father on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the age of 92. The daughter of William Dale and Elsie Marie (Harper) Kidder, she was born January 13, 1931 in Kinmundy, Illinois. Edna grew up attending schools in the Oklahoma City area and graduated from Northeast High School in 1949 where she was active in tennis. On January 17, 1951, Edna married her sweetheart and one true love, George Kenneth Collins who was fondly known as “Blackie” by all his family and friends. Together they shared more than 53 years of marriage and raised their family until his passing on January 9, 2005. In addition to being a loving wife, devoted mother and dedicated homemaker, Edna also worked as an associate of Hobby Lobby for many years and was an active member of Brookwood Baptist Church. In her spare time, Edna enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and crafting. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She loved being involved with her grandkids whether it was a sleepover, a ball game, or dressing up at Halloween. She was the spark and backbone of the family. She loved and cared deeply for her family and they will hold her close to their hearts each day.

She was preceded in death by her:
Parents; William Dale and Elsie Marie Kidder
Husband of 53 years, George Kenneth “Blackie” Collins;
Daughter-in-law, Peggy Collins;
Grandson, Jerrod Edwards

She leaves behind her loving family:
Son, Kenny Collins of Wichita, Kansas;
Daughter, Janet Edwards and husband, Roy of Chickasha, Oklahoma;
Daughter, Cindy Darter of Moore, Oklahoma;
Daughter, Pam Pettigrew and her husband, David of Bridgecreek, Oklahoma;
13 Grandchildren;
18 Great Grandchildren;
Many other extended family & friends.

Viewing will be from 4-8 PM Thursday with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S Western Ave. A service to celebrate and honor her life will be held 10:00 AM Friday, April 7, 2023 at the South Colonial Chapel/Vondel Smith Mortuary with burial following at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
