Janet was born in Pink, Oklahoma on November 21,1937 to Melvin and Freeda Stovall. She was raised in Macomb, OK, where she loved to play basketball. After graduating from Macomb High School in 1955, Janet moved to Oklahoma City. While traveling on the bus to Draughon’s Business College one day, Janet saw Ed Churchman and immediately fell in love. On September 7, 1957, they were married. During Janet’s working years, she was a valued administrative assistant in various real estate and doctors’ offices. Fifteen of those years were spent at the Mercy Neuroscience Institute, where she formed many special friendships.

Janet was a wonderful wife and loving mother. Her family was of the utmost importance to her, and she always made sure that their needs were met. She enjoyed cooking for her family and taking them on extended vacations. One of her favorite family vacation destinations was Branson, Missouri. Janet was a huge sports fan. She coached her daughters’ basketball and volleyball teams and served on the St. James Catholic Grade School Athletic Committee. Her favorite college team was the Oklahoma State University Cowboys, and her favorite professional basketball team was the Oklahoma City Thunder. Janet also enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting and dancing events as well as going on outings and visiting with good friends. She loved to dance with her favorite partner Ed.

Janet was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church, where she enjoyed volunteering as a church receptionist. She also worked to help the poor through the St. Vincent De Paul Society and City Rescue Mission.

Janet will be deeply missed by her family and friends but will always be remembered for her laughter and appreciation of God’s precious gift of life.
