Obituary for John Michael Stratton
Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Thursday April 6, 2023 at Vondel Smith Mortuary at South Lakes (4000 SW 119th St.) with the family present to greet friends from 4-6 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Graveside home going service will be at 2:00 PM Friday April 7, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery of Tuttle, OK
John Michael Stratton went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 77. John was born on April 25, 1945 in Torrance, California to his parents, John and Angela Stratton. He grew up around the farm in Salina, Kansas. He attended a catholic high school and was very proud that he lettered on the varsity tennis team. John enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Clinton, OK. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict and served his time in Okinawa, Japan as an aircraft mechanic. John received his honorable discharge from the US Air Force in February of 1969. Upon his return from serving his country, John began a career in sales. He worked for Cojac Buildings for many many years until retirement. John’s true passion was feeling the freedom of the open sky while flying his ultralight aircraft. He loved the exhilaration of flying and was a skilled pilot who enjoyed taking to the skies whenever he had the chance. John also enjoyed fishing, sports and tinkering on projects around the house. He was a diehard OU fan and never missed a game. If he wasn’t watching on TV he was listening to it on the radio. He loved nothing more than cheering on his team with his family and friends. John always appreciated warm weather and sunny days, he hated everything about winter and being cold. More than anything, John loved his family. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was always patient and supportive. He took so much pride in watching his children grow into successful adults. John will be cherished each day and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Wife, Donna Carol Stratton on March 30, 2011;
Son, Shaun Stratton;
Grandson, John Christopher Brennan

Daughter, Angela Griffith and her husband, Ben Griffith of Yukon, OK;
