Obituary for Norma Jo Hoffman

Norma Jo Hoffman, 95, joined her Heavenly Father & a host of family awaiting her arrival in heaven on April 13, 2023. Norma was born on the family farm in Moore, Oklahoma on February 7, 1928 to William Armstrong & Carrie (Haun) Skinner. She would often talk about when she was little, riding on the cotton sacks while her family picked cotton. When she was around five, her mom made her a little cotton sack and she started helping the family pick cotton. When she started to Ladd School, her dad would take her and pick her up on the family horse. She said every morning her mom would have homemade biscuits ready for her to eat and take for her lunch.

Norma graduated from Washington High School, Oklahoma, in 1945, a few years later she moved to Oklahoma City where she began working for the John A. Brown Department Store located on Commerce Avenue in South Oklahoma City, then in the downtown location, as Head Cashier.

Norma also worked as cashier for J. C. Penney’s, manager for Dunn’s Dairy Queen, & her last employment was with the Moore Public School System working in the cafeteria in line production where she loved preparing meals for the students and staff. She was known throughout the school system for her specialties, her homemade soups and salads. When the opportunity arose, staff members from other schools would stop by for a bowl of her soup and salad. She loved and thoroughly enjoyed serving all staff and students until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Melvin Hoffman, on September 6. 1978; Brother Loyl Skinner, and Sister Aleen Phillips.

She leaves wonderful memories with those who survive; Daughter Vicki L. Wright, and Roy; Grandson John Wright & Veronica; Great grandchildren Michaelia, Michael, Nickolus, Kitsu, and her nieces and nephews.
