Obituary for Patty L. Lawson

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Patty was born to Robert Lafayette and Henrietta (McMahan) Ozment in Oklahoma City. She passed away at the age of 91 in Norman, OK.

Patty married Clarence Wallace in 1948 and they had four children. She later married L.H. Pete Lawson and they were married for 33 years.

Patty worked for 30 years at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center as the assistant to the Dean at the College of Medicine. She was very active in the Dean’s Assistants Group which is comprised of the administrative and executive assistants to deans in colleges of medicine from more than 100 medical schools in the U.S. and Canada.
Patty’s favorite job in her life was raising a family. She was the perfect Mother, not only to her children, but to many others that she treated as her own. She could be counted on for help or just to lend an ear. Whatever the need, Patty was there. In addition to being a great support for others, she was an amazing cook. Her greatest joy was preparing large meals for her friends and family to enjoy. She made the best deviled eggs and apricot fried pies on the planet. Her recipes have been shared with each of her kids and grandkids in a cookbook that was put together in honor of her 75th birthday. Her legacy will live on through us all.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings, her beloved husband Pete and lifelong friend and father of her 4 children, Clarence Wallace.

She is survived by her sons Leroy Wallace (Teresa) of Norman, Leslie Wallace (Barb) of Colorado, Larry Wallace (Jenny) of Sulphur and her daughter Linda English Weeks (Charles) of Norman. Other survivors include 5 grandchildren Mitch Wallace, Evan English (Zac Holland), John English (Maggie), Libby Griffith (Kreg), and Austin Wallace (Kelsey) and 8 great grandchildren, Tanner, Mason, Bowen, Kyan, Knightley, Knox, Olivia and Kaiser.
