Obituary for Ron Costigan

Ronald Gibbs Costigan, 70, of Moore, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, January 16th, 2024 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He passed peacefully at home with his family by his side.

Ron was born October 14, 1953 in Oklahoma City to William and Frances Costigan.Ron was raised in Oklahoma City along with his sister Barbara. As a young man, he was involved with the Boy Scouts and played little league baseball. He graduated from N.W. Classen in 1971. Following high school, he attended OU and earned his engineering degree. Ron began his career as an Architect and in 1985, opened his own firm, Costigan and Associates.

Ron married the love of his life, Debbie Crout. Ron and Debbie’s faith in God, and love for each, grew through each trial and tribulation.

They were blessed with two children, Michael and Jennifer. Ron loved being a father and husband. Ron was very involved with his children’s activities. Even with his busy business schedule, he always made time to coach little league games and go to dance recitals. He ran his business out of his house so he could spend even more time with his family. It was a real blessing for his children to come home from school so they could talk to him about their day. While his name might one day be forgotten, the mark of integrity, character and faith will live on for generations to come.

Ron and his family were faithful members at First Moore Baptist Church for over 40 years. Ron taught Sunday School, led discipleship classes and served as a deacon for many of those years. He loved serving the Lord and made wonderful memories with his church family. He would be the first to express the importance of a good church family and he had one of the most caring and loving church families a person could ask for.

Ron had two hobbies, family and work. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed taking road trips with his grandchildren. His favorite vacation started with setting up his lawn chair by the Chama River, then jeeping on the Alpine Loop and would generally end hanging out on a deck in Ouray Colorado with his family. The mountains were like his second home.

As far as work, he was one of those people who truly loved his profession. He never completely retired. Ron was used by God to help churches and mission works all over the United States, in Africa and on five Caribbean islands. He was also passionately involved in the work of the Baptist Children’s Home.

Ron will always be remembered for his sacrifice, his strength, his compassion and his unwavering love for his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
