A Few Last Shared Thoughts
By: Sue Ann (Moritz) Johnson

I know that I will die soon so I’m writing this to share my thoughts and recollections. It might help the minister who conducts my service.

These things I have loved in life:
TREES. My memories from childhood of loving trees – I could climb and be part of; trees I could sit under and be mesmerized by the movement of wind through their leaves, branches, and animals. I love all the creatures of this planet, even all that I have never seen. I especially love all those I have been privileged to live with.

OCEAN. How I have loved the ocean! Oh, to have been a sailor! I’m grateful for all the time I’ve been able to be near the ocean.

FRIENDS. Where would I be without Friends – friends to celebrate with; friends to cry with, friends to just be with. These experiences I have cherished.

MEMORIES OF FAMILY GATHERINGS. the banter, jokes, laughter, sharing a common history, the wonderful food.

MEMORIES OF MY FRIENDS. – too numerous to list – I have enjoyed many pleasures, experiences and joy. There was even joy in sharing sorrow.

LEARNING. Going to college, Savoring campus life, Love of learning.
Living by the ocean. Daily drinking in its smells, sounds, magnificence, feeling a part od its power. These ideas have brought me liberation: There is a Higher Power, a God of love who came to me and assured me of his love. Because God loves me, I can love myself. There is no disparity between God and science or any form of knowledge.

FAMILY. I was blessed with a large, loving, interesting family. I always loved being with them but it was only as I grew older that I truly appreciated them, cherished them and wished that we could always be together. I would absorb their essence, or try to, and imprint them deeply in my mind. My hope of heaven is to be with them and of course, all the animals in my life.
