Obituary for Thomas Edward "Smokey" Longan

Thomas Edward Longan earned his heavenly wings on April 13, 2023, at 1:32 am in his home in Cashion, OK listening to music with his beloved Mavis. Most of us knew him by many other names, Smoke, Smokey, Butch, Brother, Dad, and Papa. Smokey was born on July 10, 1950, in Seminole, Oklahoma. However, his mother wasn't able to register the birth certificate until the next year, so 1951 was put on it instead.

Smokey is survived by the love of his life, Mavis Stroud of Cashion, Oklahoma; Son, Troy Longan of Tulsa; Son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Amanda Longan of Hitchita, Oklahoma; and his daughter Tina Ayers of Henryetta, Oklahoma. He was also loved by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Longan, mother, Thelma Parker, brothers Ausie and Sidney Longan, sister Ruth Miller, son Jonathan Stroud, and daughters Amy Cissell and Marissa Stroud.

Smokey enjoyed fishing, working on the farm, and spending time with Mavis. His jobs included foreman for electrical line cleanup, welder, rancher, police officer, horse jockey, and even rodeo clown. He spent most of his time after retirement tinkering around the family farm, spoiling Rusty his dog, and building a wonderful life with Mavis.
