Albert Howard
Hatten
Jul 12, 1930 — Sep 21, 2026
Oklahoma City
We are sad to announce the passing of Albert H. Hatten, lovingly known as Howard. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 21, 2026. Howard’s life journey began back on July 12, 1930 in Huntington, West Virginia. There he was born to Archie and Myrtle Hatten. Howard was one of five children. He had four brothers and one sister. His mother died when he was 15 years of age. Life was hard after his mother passed. He left school at the eighth grade and started working for a living. He worked many jobs over the years. He worked at a slaughterhouse, a nursing home, he was a steel worker, a mechanic, a gas station attendant, a barber, a drive-in owner and a Landlord. He owned the Golden Point and sold hundreds of hamburgers a day. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base, as an aircraft blade inspector for many years. He also purchased multiple properties, updated them, and rented them. Many times working a full-time job and side jobs. He provided well for his family. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do. If it was broke, he would fix it. If he didn’t know how, he would figure it out. In September 1951, Howard joined the US Air Force. He was sent to Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City. Here in Oklahoma, Howard met Eca Hunter. How did they meet? He met a girl he thought was pretty and ask for her phone number. When he called to talk to her, he wasn’t talking to her, he was really talking to Eca. When they agreed to meet for a date and he realized it was not the same woman, he went on the date anyway so he didn’t disrespect her. The rest is history! They married in 1953 at Faith Tabernacle in Oklahoma City. Together they had two daughters, Lavenia Sullivan, and Leveeta Richardson. Howard and Eca were married 68 years before her passing in 2021. He is survived by his daughters Lavenia Sullivan and Leveeta Richardson; His grand 7 children, John, Raylynn, Rachelle, Lauren, Kelsey, Kristen, and Jacob. His 6 Great-grandchildren Phoebe, Jaden, Maddy, Aurora, Ace, and Forge. And 5 great-great grandchildren Bennett, Sam, Lola, Olivia, and Beau Howard Gensler. He was preceded in death by his wife, his siblings, and his parents. Howard loved the Lord. He was a generous giver, and was glad to help when he could. When we would all go out as a family to a restaurant, he would cover the entire bill for everyone, even as the family grew. He loved going to the lake and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He greatly enjoyed family get together‘s and watching the grandkids play. And eat! Our family get together‘s always consisted of a big meal. This man could eat! And always remained slim and trim. He loved working with his hands, building and repairing just about anything. He had so many interesting stories about his life. He loved to talk about the Bible and how important God is. They brought their children up in church and encouraged the grandchildren to go as well. He knew there was nothing more important, than the Lord in our lives. He is loved and will be greatly missed.
