Anna Mae Lehman Obituary
On November 28, 2021, a beautiful soul earned her wings and ascended into heaven. She was welcomed by a large host of Marcotte, Moisant, and Lehman family members as well as many, many friends.
Anna Mae was born on May 14, 1919 in Purcell, OK to her parents Joe and Lena Marcotte. As she was born into such a large family, she never lacked for playmates. Her brothers, Joseph (JB), Cleo, Edward, and Leonard, and her sisters Maggie, Selena, Anna Belle, and Bertha, made sure that there was never a dull or quiet time in their home.
As a young girl, she attended elementary school at Our Lady of Victory in Purcell, Ok. She attended and graduated in 1938 from St Elizabeth Academy also in Purcell. While attending St Elizabeth Academy, she became friends with another young student, Marie Lehman. Marie would soon introduce her to her brother August Lehman. Anna Mae was very impressed with August. Even though she had always said she wouldn't marry anyone with blonde hair, August soon helped her change her mind.
On Aug 5, 1941, she and August were married at Our Lady of Victory Church in Purcell, Ok. The young couple spent some time in California before returning to Oklahoma in 1943. They resided in Oklahoma for the rest of their lives.
Seven children were born to them, Don Lehman & wife Betty of Mustang, Rita Smith of Yukon, Augie Lehman (1945-2019) & wife Dahlia, Robert Lehman & wife Kathy of Harrah, Billy Lehman & wife Jeanie of Piedmont, Dennis Lehman & wife Janice of Tuttle, Rose Mary & husband Larry Churchwell of Sapulpa. The family also includes numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
During her lifetime, Anna Mae served in many capacities. She served as a volunteer at St Ann's Nursing Home. She was a home room mother at Sacred Heart Elementary, and a Band Boosters Club member as well as an Athletic Association member at Mt St Mary high school for 4 years. She was very involved and supportive of all her children in all their endeavors. She was a member of Sacred Heart Altar Society as well as Catholic Daughters of America. She also served on the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women. In 1970, she received a Diocesan Council of Catholic Women "Lady of Achievement" award. Anna Mae was well known for her love of the Lord, her dedication to her faith, and her service to Catholic schools and Church. She was truly an original prayer warrior.
Both Anna Mae and August were members of the Moose Lodge in Yukon, Ok and enjoyed many evenings of dancing there. They were also members of National Active and Retired Federal Employees Group.
On her 100th birthday, Anna Mae was both surprised, and blessed with the birthday party of all parties. This party was the Lehman children's version of a "This Is Your Life" party. It has been rumored that about half of the residents of the metro Oklahoma City area were in attendance, as well as numerous in and out of state friends and family.
