Anna Maxine Quintana of Oklahoma City was born on July 8, 1936 and was welcomed to Heaven by her Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 15, 2022. Anna Maxine was born to James and Anna Davis in the town of Standardville, Utah in the middle of the Great Depression. She joined her two sisters Florance and Columbine. The entire family migrated to California in 1938. Anna (who mostly went by her middle name) attended school in Oakland and there met her husband, Neno Quintana. They were married just before she graduated from High School in 1954. Neno and Maxine settled in Oakland where two daughters were born, Valerie (Jim) and Debra (Jeff). They purchased their first house in San Leandro in 1962 and added a son, Glen (Christine).
Their neighbors shared with them Bible truth and invited them to Manor Baptist Church. Over time, Maxine heard the gospel from several different places. One day while facing surgery, she concluded that she was a sinner in need of a Savior. By faith, she called upon the Lord Jesus Christ to cleanse her from her sins and give her eternal life. Neno found Christ as his Savior a few years later. They both joined the Manor Baptist Church where they and their children grew in the Lord. Maxine taught Sunday School and Awana and ministered to the youth group.
When her children were pre-teens, Maxine became a teacher at the church pre-school. She then served for many years in the Extended School Services program at Manor Baptist Christian School. She was beloved by many children as she cared for and loved them, and also provided some discipline, as they waited for their parents after school. Eventually, Maxine taught her own kindergarten class to complete her 20 years of service with MBCS.
While her three children were growing up, her primary focus was caring for them and taking them to their many activities. She seldom missed an event, a concert or a game and was beloved by many other children and teens for being there for them too. After her children were married and began their own families, she super-excelled at grandmotherhood. She traveled to Maine, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Germany, Malaysia and Hungary for births and visits. She was especially a part of the family of Glen and Christine, as they lived all together for some years. The close relationship she started with their three sons only grew with time.
Married for over 50 years already, Neno and Maxine moved to Oklahoma City in 2006 to be closer to their family. This began the golden years of her life filled with family and church. She was a member of Southwest Baptist Church and had a powerful prayer ministry. Maxine never met a stranger and loved with compassion. Her sense of fun and laughter was contagious.
She is a breast cancer survivor and has suffered from a myriad of ailments and conditions over the last 20 years. Always a fighter, she has had several low health times, but always could recover. This time, however, her suffering body was exhausted, and the cycle of her life was complete. On the morning of March 15 at 4:45 am, as she was passing into eternity, she squeezed the hand of her beloved husband of 68 years for a moment. She went from breathing heavily, to breathing quietly to not breathing at all. She then smiled broadly as she met her Savior face to face, expired her last breath and sweetly rested in Jesus.
Anna Maxine is preceded in death by her parents and great-granddaughter, Ava.
She is survived by her husband Neno; sisters Florance and Columbine; children: Valerie and husband Jim, Debra and husband Jeff, and Glen and wife Christine; Grandchildren Jason wife Kim, Justin wife Jordan, James wife Jamie, Anna, Mary husband Joseph, Glen Jr. wife Brittni, Antonio wife Krysten, and Tyler wife Veronica; Great Grandchildren: Caleb, Harper, Hazel, Cole, Camdyn, Mason, and Brooks.

Thank you for her strength, honor, wisdom, kindness and love for others. She will be missed. May we take up her mantle of the love of God and make a difference for good in the life of others also."
Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. Ecclesiastes 12:6-7
