Obituary

Authalene Betty Wright was born on August 1, 1934 in the small southwestern town of Carnegie, Oklahoma. Authalene was the oldest and the only girl of Arthur and Ruby (Carlene) Richardson. Following Authalene were 5 brothers, Philip, Garold, Jerry, Kenneth and Michael. At the age of 16, Authalene was baptized in to our Lord's church where she was a faithful servant of our savior Jesus Christ until the end of her life. In 1952, Authalene met the love of her life, James (Jim) Morris Wright. A year later on June 7, 1953, they were married. In late December of 1954, Authalene was about to give birth to her first child. However, tragedy struck only moments before birth where the baby stops moving. When the baby emerged, he was still born. Authalene named the baby after his father and called him Jimmy Allen. In 1956, Authalene was expecting another baby. In early July she gave birth to a baby girl. Authalene named the baby after the baby's grandmothers, Anita Carlene. In 1960, Authalene was expecting another child. In late July, she gave birth to a son. Authalene named the baby after the English actor, Cary Grant. The baby was named Cary Brent. After this birth, the Jim and Authalene family was complete.

Authalene was a stay-at-home wife and mother where she took care of her husband Jimmy for 47 years and her two children. Authalene was involved in her church by being a children's bible school teacher and helping out with vacation bible school. Authalene supported her children with helping out in their school by being a home room mother, taking Anita to piano lesson, taking Cary to little league practice and many other activities that the children were involved in. Authalene liked working in her garden and planting the many flowers around her house. Authalene enjoyed historical museums where she could spend multiple hours studying the many artifacts they had.

In the late 1980s, after both children have left the house, Authalene got involved in Tole painting. If she had a piece of wood, she would paint on it. Authalene specialty was creating and painting Christmas ornaments with Santa Claus on them. In the early 2000, Authalene got into Genealogy. She collected many pictures of old family members. She even found out that she had family that came from Sweden

In the year 2023, the final lap of Authalene's race of her life on earth started. That year Authalene was diagnosis with a bad heart valve and liver cancer. It was decided to treat the heart valve first. So, In March 2024, her Aorta valve was replaced. The heart valve surgery was a success. The following year she began cancer treatment. However, the cancer treatment was not a success. After her final cancer treatment, Authalene obtained a blood in clot in her lung.

She was given a strong blood thinner to treat the blood clot. However, the strong blood thinner caused her to developed a massive hematoma. At the age of 91, Authalene Betty Wright passed away on August 31, 2025 from the effects of her liver cancer and the hematoma surrounded by her family.

Authalene was preceded in death by her husband Jim Wright in February 2001 from COPD, her son Jimmy Allen in December 1954, her mother Ruby Carlene Richardson in September 1991 from lung cancer, her father Arthur Richardson in May 1992, her brothers Philip Richardson in February 1982 from a heart attack and Garold Richardson in January 1948 from a traffic accident.

Authalene is survived by her daughter, Anita Price of Oklahoma City, her son Cary Wright (& Polly) of Oklahoma City. She is survived by three brothers, Jerry Richardson of Tuttle, Kenneth Richardson of Newcastle and Michael Richardson of Edmond. Authalene is survived by four grandsons, Nicholas (& April) Price of Mustang, Kevin (& Andi) Price) of Oklahoma City, Brent Wright of Oklahoma City and David Wright of Oklahoma City. Authalene is survived by four great-grandchildren, Austin Price, Vivian Price, Cecilia Serafin and Liam Wright.
