Obituary

Barbara Jean Blake June 24, 1935 – October 27, 2025 Barbara Jean Blake, lovingly known as "Barbara" by her family and friends, entered Heaven's gates on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on June 24, 1935, in Billings, Noble County, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Estelle Faye Moncrief and Clifford Ray Curby. Barbara attended schools in the Billings area and in 1953 graduated from Billings Hill High School, where she was actively involved in various clubs and activities, including choir and basketball. After high school, she began working at Champlin Oil Company in Enid, Oklahoma, where she met Richard Lyle Blake. The two were married on February 11, 1957, at First Baptist Church in Enid. Following their wedding, Barbara and Richard moved to San Diego, California, where Richard served in the U.S. Navy. After his military service, they settled in Oklahoma City and later in Stillwater, Oklahoma. While Richard attended OSU Veterinary School, Barbara worked at Oklahoma State University. During their time in Stillwater, they welcomed their first son, Mark, followed by sons, Brent and Kevin. Barbara and Richard shared over 51 years of loving marriage until Richard's passing on April 3, 2007. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Barbara worked as the office manager for her husband's veterinary clinic, as an assistant manager in retail, and as an office manager at New York Life in Oklahoma City. She played a vital role in the success of their business and formed many lifelong friendships with staff, clients, and fellow veterinarians in the Oklahoma City metro area. Barbara was deeply involved in her sons' lives—serving as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, attending baseball games, participating in PTA, and volunteering as a homeroom mother. Her love and care for her family were unwavering, and she was a constant source of support and encouragement as a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed hobbies such as sewing, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with friends. Barbara accepted the Lord at an early age and lived a life devoted to honoring Him. A member of Southern Hills Baptist Church for over 40 years, she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and served wherever she was needed. Barbara truly embodied the spirit of a Proverbs 31 woman—her generosity, authenticity, and servant's heart reflected God's love. Barbara will be remembered for her radiant smile, spontaneous laughter, and nurturing spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
