IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Jane
Schumann
October 2, 1932 – June 29, 2015
Barbara Mann Schumann passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 in Oklahoma City at the age of 82. Born on October 2, 1932 to the late Robert E. Mann and Ida Margaret Keuhn Mann in Du Quoin, Illinois. Barbara is survived by her children, Jane Gilson (Mayo) and Steven Louis Schumann; sisters, Dorothy Mann Miller and Martha Mann Kruebbe; grandchildren, Benjamin Stevens (Rachelle), Samuel Stevens, Michael Schumann, and Ruthie Stevens; and great-grandchildren, Adam Brenden Arrellano, Kevin James Stevens, and Logan Jackson Stevens. She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Herman Schumann; sisters, Agnes Mann Meaux, Leola Mann Gros and Roberta Mann Leclere. For most of her life, Barbara resided in River Ridge, Louisiana. She worked as a part-time librarian, was a talented pianist, and above all a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Coming from a musically-gifted family, Barbara and her five sisters would perform musical skits for every significant anniversary or special occasion. She loved square and round dancing with her husband; some of her and Floyd's best days were spent at Bar None Ranch in Destrehan, Louisiana. She enjoyed family trips to the Mississippi gulf coast, the casinos, and was even taught how to fish and crab in Lafitte, Louisiana by her devoted husband. Many summers were spent teaching all her grandchildren how to swim. Dinner may not have been ready at 5:00 p.m., but music always filled the house. Her kindness, love for music and a good novel, humor and compassion will forever be cherished by those lucky enough to have known her.
