Barbara Sue (Hennessey) Nance was born May 27, 1940 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of
W.H. "Buddy" and Elizabeth (Kuehnert) Hennessey. She departed this life surrounded by her
three boys and family on Wednesday, March 20 th in Oklahoma City at the age of 83.
Barbara was raised in Oklahoma City and was a proud graduate of Capitol Hill High School's
Class of 1959. Barbara married Kenneth "Ken" Robert Nance on August 31, 1963. They made
their home in Oklahoma City where they raised their three sons.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Ken on February 14, 2013; her parents, and her
brothers, Johnny Hennessey and Jimmy Don Hennessey.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Barry Nance and his wife, Donna, of Grand Prairie, TX, Darren
Nance and Brian Nance and his wife, Michelle, of Edmond, OK; her five grandchildren, Jonah
Nance, Madeline and her husband Michael Montegut, Gabe Nance, Tobie Lowe, and Cooper
Nance; in addition to numerous other family and friends. Barbara was anxiously awaiting the
birth of her first great grandchild this summer.
Barbara, affectionately also known as Barb, Barbie, Mimi, Mimi-B and Sweet Momma, will be
forever missed by her boys, her beloved grandkids, her family, and all her friends, including the
Wednesday night 'Gang', Crew '59, and 'The Chicks'. Barb was also an alternate Mom for
many of her boys' friends through the years, all of whom will remember her sassiness, super
sense of style, and her art of chatter.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Friday, March 22nd at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, March 23rd at the Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary North Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd.
