Barbara Ann (Tavis) Strickland was born April 12, 1953 in Kansas City, KS. She went home to be with her lord and savior on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the age of 68.

Barbara was raised in Kansas City, KS. She married the love of her life William Adrian "Bill" Strickland, 3 days after graduating from high school, on May 26, 1972. They eventually moved to Oklahoma City where they raised their family and owned several businesses. Barbara worked at Legend at Council Road Assisted Living when it first opened. She was the Life Enrichment Coordinator in the Memory Care Unit where she quickly became very loved, admired, and respected by the co-workers residents, and their families.

She was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Mary and Harry Carpenter; her brother, Max Herrick, and her sister, Mary Louise Keith.

She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Bill Strickland; her brother, James Tavis of Desota, Kansas; her daughters, Shannon Gutierrez and her husband Brian of Frisco, TX and Jamie Martinek and her husband Shane of Bethany, OK; her grandchildren, Brayden Gutierrez, Adrian Strickland and Chance Strickland; her great Grandchildren, Kooper Lynn Strickland, Sierra Jane Strickland, Kynley Ann Strickland, Taelyn Deardorff and Jameson William Strickland.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Newchurch, 9201 N. Rockwell Ave.
