Obituary

The Lord called Home his faithful servant, Betty Ruth Cabbiness, on February 10, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Betty was born April 3, 1937 to Samuel Woodrow "Woody" and Kathleen (Phillips) Cyrus in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Betty graduated from Anadarko High School where she was a twirler. Betty married her high school sweetheart, Guy Cabbiness and they started a life together and had two wonderful children, Sam and Katy.

They eventually settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma where Betty was as an active and vibrant mother, wife and employee of American Airlines for more than 20 years where she retired in 2002. Betty loved life and going to Tenkiller lake, where she could spend her weekends with family, friends, drinking her favorite wine and riding her wave runner. Betty also enjoyed traveling and went on many excursions with her family and many friends. She was always the life of the party!

Betty relocated to Oklahoma City to be nearer her family and daughter Katy and had a beautiful home that was constantly filled with love and joy. She kept busy by loving and caring for her many pets and entertaining friends and family. Betty always put others in her life first and was kind, fun and always ready to help.

Even as her health and memory declined, she remained a positive and wonderful person staying involved with her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woody and Kate Cyrus and son, Sam Cabbiness.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Sara (Katy) Davis, son-in-law, Rick Davis, grand-daughters Ashley Scott, Heather Galvan and Christina Lloyd and great grandchildren Max, Leon, Ellis and Owen.

While we take comfort knowing that she is in a better place now, she will be missed by all that loved and cherished the many wonderful times with Betty! And she leaves with us her spirit of love, kindness and family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be determined.

To Those Whom I Love and Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me, let me go

I have so many things to see and do

You must not tie yourself to me with tears

Be happy that I have had so many years

I gave you my love, you can only guess

How much you gave me in happiness

I thank you for the love each have shown

But now it is time I travelled on alone

So, grieve a while for me, if grieve you must

Then let your grief be comforted by trust

It is only for a while that we must part

So, bless the memories in your heart

I will not be far away, for life goes on

So, if you need me, call and I will come

Though you cannot see or touch me, I will be near

And if you listen with your heart, you will hear

All of my love around you soft and clear

Then, when you must come this way alone

I will greet you with a smile and welcome you home.
