Obituary

Betty Lou Clayton went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 2, 2010. Betty was born to Bonnie Lou Ship Fredrick and Denver Asur Fredrick on December 21, 1923 in Raymondville, Missouri. She grew up on her parent's farm as the middle child of five. After graduating from high school, Betty taught in the country school grades 1 - 12 before getting married to her sweetheart, Roy Thomas Clayton of Licking, Missouri on December 21, 1946. They moved to Rolla, Mo. where Betty worked for US Geological Survey, while her husband earned his Petroleum Engineering degree at Rolla School of Mines. After Roy's graduation, they moved to Beaumont, Texas in 1950. She loved raising her family in both Beaumont and Houston over a span of 19 years. She was an active member of Alpha Omega class of First United Methodist Church for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, as well as a fabulous cook and avid bridge player. In 1969 Betty and Family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she enjoyed being a member of AIME (American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers) wives club and shared many wonderful friendships in planning the group's activities. She also enjoyed working in jewelry sales for BC Clark for 13 years at the North Park store. Betty was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and "MeMe" and sweet friend to many. She loved her family and making "family times" special with good food – cooked to perfection. Betty is survived by her daughter Deborah Ann Clayton Burger and her husband Tom Burger of Beaumont, Tx: her son Michael Thomas Clayton of Edmond, Ok; five grandchildren Clayton Thomas Burger and wife Alisa of Spring, Tx; Cara Burger Millas and husband George of Sugarland, Tx; Aimee Clayton Rowland and husband Jason of Stillwater, Ok; Matthew Michael Clayton of Yukon, Ok; and Chelsea Ann Burger of Sugarland, Tx and her beloved sister Mary Len Nash and husband Jack of Turtle, Mo and four nephews and two nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband Roy, her parents, a brother and a sister. Betty's beautiful smile, sweet countenance and kind heart will always grace her memory. Visitation will be held today from 4:00 - 8:00 PM and a "Celebration of Life" service will be held Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary North. Burial will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to a charity of choice in Betty's memory. The Family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the Visiting Angels, Tracy and Lanetta, for their loving care and also to the Fountains of Canterbury nurses and staff.
