Betty "BJ" Jean White
September 18, 1949 - September 13, 2026
Betty "BJ" Jean White, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 13, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, just five days before her 77th birthday. She was born on September 18, 1949, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Clifford Eugene Holliday and Betty Lou (Collins) Holliday.
BJ attended East Central High School in Tulsa, OK and went on to receive her bachelor's degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK in 1972. On June 5, 1970, she married the love of her life, William "Bill" Edward White, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together, they spent the next 56 years building a life and a family filled with love, laughter and adventure.
During the first ten years of their marriage, Bill and BJ moved throughout Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas, Illinois, and Ohio before returning home to Oklahoma in 1980. Together, they owned and operated State Beauty Supply of Southwest Oklahoma City until their retirement in 2004.
Retirement gave BJ more time to enjoy the things she loved most. She enjoyed a little bit of travel, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren, Blake, Dylan, and Haiden. Her sewing room was another favorite place, where she could often be found creating quilts and fun sewing projects with her sewing group.
BJ was the greatest mom to Ed and Tara. She was the kind of mom who made a house feel like a home and a sleepover feel like an event. She became especially well known throughout the neighborhood for making pancakes on mornings after sleepovers; a simple tradition that became a cherished memory for many.
As "Grammy", BJ was always there for her grandchildren. She chased Blake and Dylan all over the state to baseball games, cheering them on and supporting them every step of the way. She even got dirty in the arenas watching Haiden ride horses. She never simply watched from the sidelines-- she was present, involved, and completely invested in the lives of the people she loved most.
BJ will be remembered for many things, but perhaps most of all, for her smile. Until the very end, she was happy. She found joy in her family, in the little things, in being involved, and in simply being with the people she loved. Her smile was a reflection of the love and happiness she carried with her throughout her life.
BJ is survived by her husband of 56 years, William "Bill" Edward White of Moore, Oklahoma; her son, William "Ed" Edward White, Jr., and his wife Candi, of Blanchard, Oklahoma; her daughter, Tara Suzanne Cantwell, and her husband, Benjamin, of St. Augustine, Florida; her grandson, Blake Michael White, and his wife, Adella, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her grandson Dylan Trey White of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her granddaughter, Haiden Paige Cantwell of St. Augustine, Florida; her grandson KiDale McKinley of Blanchard, Oklahoma; and her brother, Brian Lee Holliday, and his wife, Tillie, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a family who adored her, and a smile that will never be forgotten.
Until we meet again, Grammy.
