Betty Lynne Spurgeon passed away December 6, 2010. She was born October 16, 1928 in Fredonia, KS to James and Evelyn Blex and raised in Independence, KS by Evelyn and Harold Bright. Betty married Richard Lee Spurgeon Sr. on August 8, 1948 in Bartlesville, OK. She lived in Oklahoma City, OK, Ft Worth, TX and Lakewood, CO.
She enjoyed historical reading, loved her Colorado Rockies' Baseball, and OU, Broncos, Packers and Redskins Football. Her time with her family was always very important and precious to her. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 48 years and is survived by her son, Richard Spurgeon Jr. and wife Yvonne of OKC; daughter, Rebecca Burgman and husband Ray of OKC; and daughter, Toni Bishop and husband Robert of Wheat Ridge, CO. She is also survived by grandchildren: Cole Burgman and wife Julie, Richard Spurgeon III, Laura Meier and husband Phillip Jr., Stephen Scott, Jessica Chapa, Brandi Bishop, Carla Allen and husband James, Michael Shinn and wife Jeanene, Stephanie Shinn and Jammal Brown, and Matthew Shinn. Also great grandchildren Luke, Anna, Madison, Connor, Carson, Laila, Evelyn, Briseis, Halle and Mike and nieces and nephews. The public viewing is Friday December 10, 4-8pm at Vondel Smith North. Funeral Service is Saturday December 11, 10 am at Resurrection Chapel/Cemetery, 7800 NW Expressway. In Lieu of Flowers contributions can be made to the Make A Wish Foundation.
