Obituary

Beverly Joyce (Trotter) Wells went to be with her heavenly Father on January 3, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving husband of 51 years, Dennis Wells, and her daughters, Alicia Pritchard and Callie Cardwell and all of her immediate family and many friends.

Beverly was born and raised in South OKC and lived there her entire life. She first met Dennis 65 years ago, in first grade at Fillmore Elementary. Beverly and Dennis became good friends throughout their many years of school together and began dating after their graduation from US Grant High School in Oklahoma City. Dennis proposed marriage to Beverly during his college years at the University of Oklahoma. Their wedding took place at Exchange Ave. Baptist Church, in OKC, on December 28, 1972. This was just the beginning of a lifelong, loving relationship that carried them through 51 years of marriage until the date of her passing. Beverly and Dennis were always known by friends, as a great team and loving couple, who loved life together, and it was always "together".

They both loved sports, especially if it involved the University of Oklahoma. They have been loyal supporters of OU sports, dating over 50 years as season ticket holders, and have even indoctrinated their daughters and grandkids to join them in attending many sporting events together, as a family tradition, whether it is OU football, softball, or basketball. Beverly was always a very enthusiastic fan.

She was deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren, to the extent that even the friends of her grandchildren loved Beverly's involvement with them too. They all loved their "Mimmie". Beverly and Dennis established Next Generation Child Care Center on October 29, 1989, where Beverly provided care for thousands of children over their 33 years of service to the community. She loved the opportunity to provide quality care for so many children in an engaging and safe environment. Decades later, many of the children that had been under her care, actually came back to work for her at Next Generation. She retired from childcare on September 1, 2022.

Shortly after retiring, she began having health problems, which was ultimately diagnosed by MD Anderson, as a rare disease, without a known cure. She fought courageously over her final months, with Dennis by her side every day, caring for Beverly until the day God called her home. Her deep faith in God carried her through the difficult days and now she stands before the Lord God Almighty, accepting her reward for her faith.

Beverly was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joe and Joyce Trotter. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Wells, their daughters, Alicia (Wells) Pritchard, Callie (Wells) Cardwell and her husband Brian Cardwell, grandchildren, Kayton Ross, Laney Ross, Colin Ross, Deacon Pritchard, Kamey Cardwell, Gracelyn Lynd, as well as her brother Jimmy Trotter and his wife Mary. Beverly was a woman of God, proud of her faith and beloved by her community and church. She was both a strong leader and a humble servant. She was an endless source of wisdom and laughter for all who knew her. She will be missed.
