Obituary

Bobby E. Stephens, 84, passed on Sunday May 18, 2025 in the comfort of his home. The son of Flem Stephens & Lula Mae (Fields) Stephens, Bobby was born of August 24, 1940 in Chickasha, OK. He graduated from Classen High School in 1958. After graduation, he began a career repairing and maintaining typewriters & copiers with over 30 years of service until his retirement from Xerox. On April 1, 1961 he married the love of his life Meleta, the couple established their family in Oklahoma City, where they raised two children, Gailene & Randy.

The four spent family time together racing motocross and Bob, being a handyman, was always quick to repair and maintain their motorcycles. His love for tinkering later developed into woodworking, upgrading hotrods with his son, and always willing to help a neighbor with a project. After retirement, he loved to spend time on the golf course: As was his weekly ritual to play a round of golf and grab a burger from Braums with his dedicated group of golf friends who were more like family. When he wasn't on the course he was raising grandkids and great grandkids and enjoying time sitting on the porch swing with his family. He enjoyed cutting up, Xerox old timers get togethers, and cracking jokes. He was known to cheat on any game he played, whether it be golf with the gang or monopoly with the grandkids.

Bobby & Meleta celebrated 57 Years of marriage before her passing in 2018, and still his love remained steadfast. Each night since losing her, he would blow a kiss to her picture, and tell her "Night night, love you."

He will forever be remembered for his giving heart, youthful spirit, and quick wit, often reminding us of his favorite "verse"

"No good deed goes unpunished."

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Meleta Stephens; parents: Flem & Lula Mae; and his brothers.

Bobby is survived by his son Randall Stephens; daughter, Gailene & Husband Mike Clark; three grandchildren: Whitney Allen & husband Mitch; Matt Clark; and Taylor Clark; three great grandchildren Wyler Allen, Covey Allen, & Mari-Jo Allen, as well as extended family and close friends.
