In Loving Memory of Bruce Arthur Storm

September 5, 1950 – January 16, 2025

Bruce Arthur Storm, lovingly known as "Chief," went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 74.

Born on September 5, 1950, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Bobby Arthur and Clara Mae (McPherson) Storm, Bruce grew up with a strong sense of service and purpose. He graduated from Enid High School and went on to serve his country as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army from 1971 to 1974.

His dedication to learning led him to earn his Bachelor of Science and Master's degree in Political Science and Urban Affairs from the University of Central Oklahoma, graduating in 1980.

Bruce dedicated his career to law enforcement, beginning as a patrolman and supervisor at the Edmond Police Department. He rose to the role of Chief of Police in multiple cities in Oklahoma, serving the communities of Woodward, El Reno, and Moore. It was during his time in El Reno that he met the love of his life, Carlene. Their marriage on October 22, 1988, marked the beginning of a beautiful family.

After retiring from his law enforcement career in 1997, Bruce continued to make a difference by sharing his experience and expertise as a professor. He taught Political Science and Criminal Justice at Redlands Community College, Rose State College, and Caddo-Kiowa Vocational Technical Center, inspiring countless students through his dedication and passion for education. He retired from teaching in 2017. In his later years, Bruce found joy in training therapy dogs for Therapy Dogs International, a reflection of his servant heart and his deep passion for helping others.

Bruce's life was a testament to love, patience, and encouragement. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family deeply. He showed his dedication through his selfless actions and steadfast care for those closest to his heart. As a lifelong fan of the University of Oklahoma Sooners, his loyalty occasionally sparked good-natured rivalries within his family.

Bruce leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years, Carlene Storm. He is survived by his son, Barrett Storm, and his wife, Kourtnei, with grandsons Kamden Phillips, Brayson Storm, and Brooks Storm; his daughter Carol Snowden and her husband, Brad, with granddaughter Hannah McCabe and her husband, Trent, and grandson Luke Snowden and his wife, Bailey; his daughter Amy Smith and her husband, Chris; and his daughter Melissa Cook and her husband, Alvin, with grandsons Logan Sherman and Noah Sherman.

Bruce is also remembered fondly by his sister Connie Saunkeah and her husband Jeff, her daughter Erin Brown & her husband Dominick and his many friends and extended family who were blessed to know him. He leaves a legacy of love that will always be cherished.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Arthur and Clara Mae.

Bruce's legacy of kindness, generosity, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will forever remind us to serve with humility, love without bounds, and live with purpose.

Rest in peace, Chief. You will always be deeply loved and missed.
