"B.W" Bud Wilson Sullivan, Jr met Jesus face to face on October 18, 2021 after a short illness. He was born on March 21, 1946 in Oklahoma City, OK to Bud Wilson, Sr. and Frances Cornelius Sullivan.
He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1964, and attended OSU Tech in Oklahoma City. He was an Oklahoma City Fire Fighter from 1967 to 1987. He was a NAUI instructor for the department and served on the underwater rescue team.
B. W. married Nancy Kay McCall on March 29, 1973 at Exchange Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. They have two daughters, Gea Hickman (Clark), Tampa, FL and Mandy Kniskern (Ken), Moore, OK. They have four grandsons, Jared Hopkins, Kyle Hickman, and Barrick and Brendon Kniskern, and one granddaughter, Kristina Hickman. He has one sister, Peggy Berridge (Loren, Deceased) and one brother Jim Sullivan (Barbara) and a host of nieces and nephews.
Upon retirement from the OKC FD, B. W. became the third generation in the roofing industry with his company, B. W. Sullivan Roofing & Structural Maint., Inc. For twenty-two years he was a general contractor at the Dayton Tire Plant in Oklahoma City. He provided the same services at FAA for AKG Services, LLC, First Southern Baptist Church, Southern Hills Baptist Church and Covenant Community Church in Yukon, OK until he became ill three weeks ago.
His hobbies included snow skiing, boating and fishing, camping, and, during his early years, participating in local rodeos. He loved taking his children and grandchildren to Colorado for annual ski trips and including them in his weekends at Lake Texoma and Lake Eufaula. He used his construction skills in ministry projects in Mexico and Thailand. He invested his spare time and energy in their acreage in the Oklahoma City area.
Bud and wife Nancy have been members of First Southern Baptist Church for the past twenty years. They attended First Baptist Church in Seminole, OK from 1980 until 2000,and Exchange Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City from 1973 to 1980.
Bud ("B. W." to many) was loved and admired for his strong faith, his gentle spirit, his friendliness, and his passion to always serve others. He participated as a trainer for Evangelism Explosion for a number of years. He strived to obey the two great commandments: Love God, and love others. He had a servant's heart that knew no boundaries. To know him was to love and admire him. He will be greatly missed.
