Carl "Tebe" Harris, age 78, passed away August 30, 2009. Tebe was born in Ft. Smith, AR on November 24, 1930 to Carl J. and Mary M. Harris. He moved to Oklahoma City as an infant and went through the Oklahoma City School System graduating from Central HS in 1949. He also attended Cameron Jr. College in Lawton before entering the U.S. Air Force and served three years during the Korean War. He married Norma Stathopulo on September 1, l951 in Maplewood, Il. After being discharged, he and Norma moved back to Oklahoma City where he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired with 33 yrs. of service. He was active in sports until he started coaching Little League Baseball. He coached the Mayfair Chipmunks, Asst. Coach for the Utility Tower Toppers football team in the Northwest Optimist Org. in which his son participated. He also volunteered at the Mayfair Senior Citizens Center, and was active in his son's and grandchildren's sports through H.S. and college. He was also Class Representative for the Class of 1949 with the Central Alumni Assn.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Lloyd; and sister, Freda Mae Bonner. He is survived by his wife of 58 yrs. Norma; son, Steve, and wife Joni; grandson, Tebe Blair, St. Paul , MN; Granddaughter, Mary-Cathryn; sister, Naomi Bonner; brother-in-laws, Buddy Bonner, and E.A. Stathopulo, Dallas, TX; and many nieces and nephews which he loved dearly.
Public visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, at the funeral home.
In addition to flowers, friends may contribute a memorial to MDA, or the charity of their choice. A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, at the Vondel Smith North Colonial Chapel, with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
