Carl, 86, was called to his heavenly home on Sept. 25, 2015. He was born Feb. 19, 1929 in Lamar, OK to Eugene Lee & Edna Irene (Upchurch) Higgins. Carl moved to Arizona in 1942, graduated from Mesa H.S. and served in the U.S. Army where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. Carl returned to Oklahoma in 1946 where he reconnected with the love of his life, Imogene Allen, and wed on Nov. 5, 1949. Together they created a loving and spiritual home. Carl worked in the oilfields in Oklahoma & Wyoming, and settled in Oklahoma, working for U.S. Postal Service as a carrier and supervisor until retirement. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed walking with his friends at the mall. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Imogene; and brothers, Alton, Norman & Jerry. Carl is survived by his son, Steven "Lynn" Higgins & wife, Barbara, daughter, Carla (Higgins) Scott & husband, Randy; brothers, Larry & wife, Barbara, Steve & wife, Fran, & Ronnie; grandchildren, Ben & wife, Samantha, Brian & wife, Abby, Macall & Meredith Scott; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Tyson, Steven, Lleyton & Beau; & many beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends. Viewing will be from 12-8 PM Sun. at the funeral home with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM. Services to celebrate his life will be 1:00 PM Mon., Sept. 28, 2015 at the South Lakes Chapel of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 4000 S.W. 119th St., OKC with burial following at the Holdenville Cemetery, Holdenville, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to wingsokc.org.
