Southerland, Carla Jean Renfro, 65 of OKC, left this world on Dec. 18, 2009 to be with her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. Services will be held at Vondel L. Smith Mortuary at 1 PM Wed. Dec. 23, 2009. Her nephew Timothy Vanover the pastor of Revival for Christ Club will be officiating. Carla was born on June 19th 1944, the only child of Carl & Goldia Mae (Keesee) Renfro. She lived most of her life in OKC graduating in 1962 from Capitol Hill High School. On March 2, 1963 she married the love of her life Larry Southerland of which they were married 46 years. To this union were born 2 daughters, Ashli Neile & Lisa Gaye Southerland. Carla volunteered some of her time at the Red Cross. She worked at Davis and John Marshall schools for 21 years before retiring due to health problems. She & her husband opened an antique shop called Southerbees Collectibles. Carla loved antiques & shopping for them, SOONERS football, traveling and doing genealogy, most of all she loved her family dog, Sophie, and all of her cats. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, & her baby daughter. Carla is survived by her husband, Larry of the home; daughter, Ashli; granddaughter, Mallori Southerland of the home; and the joy of her life, her great- grandson Brayden Michael Ochoa; 2 nephews, Timmy Vanover and Paul Southerland, Close Cousins, Wilma (like a sister,) & Kenneth Mullings, Max Baker & Carl Wayne Laughlin of OKC, Georgia Mae & John Manning of Council Hill, OK. Georgia & Carla were like sisters claiming each others children & grandchildren. She also left alot more family and beloved friends. Pallbearers will be Bryan Manning, Martin Ochoa, Gerald Rosebrook, Chris Cauli, Randy Manning, Jaycee Manning & Joshua Vanover. Burial will be held at Wanette, OK.
