IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carlos Edward
Weaver
November 20, 1936 – October 25, 2025
Carl Edward "Sonny" Weaver, 88, peacefully passed away at his home on October 25, 2025, after a day of watching football with friends and enjoying a
glass or two of wine. Something that he did weekly with his brother Ronnie until his death in February of this year.
Carl Edward Weaver "Sonny" was born November 20, 1936 in Okarche, Oklahoma. Sonny was the oldest of three children born to Carlos and Edith Weaver. Sonny cherished his parents and his siblings, sister Barbara Jo Weaver (Merveldt) and brother Ronnie Weaver.
Sonny lived and grew up in El Reno, Oklahoma. Sonny would say that he grew up in a different era, a simpler time. Fishing and hunting with friends, golfing with his Dad.
Sonny's parents raised their family to be devout Catholics. Mass on Saturdays at Sacred Heart Church was a must. Sonny spent some of his young life as an altar boy. He also attended Sacred Heart School where he graduated and made life long friends. While he was attending Sacred Heart he joined the basketball team. Later in life he enjoyed talking about "The Shot" vs McGuiness High School that won the game. Apparently, it was "Nothing But Net."
After graduating from Sacred Heart, Sonny spent one semester at the University of Oklahoma before transferring to Oklahoma State University. While at OSU Sonny was part of the ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corps). He loved being in Stillwater and OSU. However, he was a lifelong Sooner Football fan.
After graduating from Oklahoma State, Sonny went to work for the Rock Island Railroad in El Reno. After some "encouragement" from his father, in 1963 Sonny went to work for Barnes Brokerage in Oklahoma City and later in Edmond. Barnes Brokerage traded in the Commodities Futures Markets. Sonny had found his calling. Sonny traded the markets throughout the rest of his life.
Sonny traveled the world, always taking family and friends along the way.
Although Sonny did not have any children of his own, he was a father figure to several people, a grandfather figure to their children, and a mentor for many others.
Always willing to help, generous to a fault, and above all, always a wonderful friend.
For his family and friends, it is hard envisioning a world without Sonny Weaver.
THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES
