IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Ann
Egger
September 11, 1936 – April 9, 2024
Carol Ann Egger of Bethany, OK passed away on April 9, 2024. She was born on September 11, 1936 to Carlos and Ruth Puckett in Louisville, KY. She moved to Oklahoma City as a teenager where she attended Classen High School. She pursued her love of science at the University of Oklahoma where she earned her BS in Geology in 1958. She began her career with Beard Oil in OKC, and while working in the downtown office she met another young career professional who would be the love of her life. She and Jim Egger were married in 1966, were married for 57 years and had many adventures together. Once they had both retired, they did a lot of traveling and took many cruises on the east west coast of the US; their favorite one was the trip to Alaska. She later decided that she wanted to teach the science that she loved. She taught Earth Science at Hefner Junior High in OKC for over 20 years, finally retiring in 1996. Her love of geology and nature led she and her family on expeditions across Oklahoma and the southwestern US in search of fossils and minerals. This passion also inspired her to create unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces that showed the beauty of the rocks and minerals that she loved. For several decades she sold her jewelry at art shows across the state and at 50 Penn Place Art Gallery, making friends with everyone along the way. Carol and Jim enjoyed the time spent with their family of 2 daughters, 4 grandchildren, many, many grand-dogs and even the grand-geese. She was an avid fan of OKC Thunder basketball, OU football and softball, crossword and jigsaw puzzles and reading. She had a quick wit, a huge heart and a smile for everyone! She is survived by her loving husband, Jim; children: Shaun Horton and Jamie Foucher; grandchildren: Ryan Horton, Sarah Horton, Alex Horton and Isabel Longwell.
