Carol Ann Mencke, age 89, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 9, 2023. At the time of her death, she was residing in Boerne, Texas near family.

Born on February 19, 1934, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Louis and Pauline Baden and brother Richard. After graduating valedictorian from high school, she went to North Texas State College where she was a member of Delta Gamma and earned her BA in Education, Speech Therapy.

After graduation, she was a flight attendant for American Airlines. She then moved to Long Island, NY to work at Millneck Manor, a private school for the deaf. It was there that she met Gene Mencke. On August 10, 1957, they were married in Ft. Worth, TX. They moved to Oklahoma City and raised two children and many dogs.

Oklahoma City was home for many years where she was a schoolteacher and administrative assistance for Universal Resources. After retirement, she lived in Phoenix, AZ for many years.

She was active in her church, Gethsemane Lutheran, for many years and was a Duplicate Bridge Life Master.

She is survived by daughter Emily Pitchford (Ron) of Boerne, Texas; daughter-in-law Angie Mencke of Bethany, Oklahoma; grandson's Philipp Pitchford (Rachel) of Dallas, Texas; Trey Pitchford (Keeleigh) of Benton, Arkansas; Blake Pitchford (Kristal) of Boerne, Texas; Nathan Mencke of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and great grandchildren: Brady, Pace and Reese.

Carol was preceded in death by husband Gene (1-14-1990) and son Evan Mencke (3-19-2023).
