Obituary

Carra Leona (Austin) Foreman, 95, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in the comfort of her home with her family by her side.

Carra was born in Warner, Oklahoma on September 7, 1929 to John and Leber (Evans) Austin. She was raised in Vian, Oklahoma along with her 3 brothers Bud, Chuck, Johnny and sister Bobby. At age 13 her family moved to Warner where she was selected and took the opportunity to take an advanced track and graduate high school in 3 years.

Carra then met the love of her life Lewis Foreman. The two married in 1945, and they began their life together in Muskogee where she worked for the Muskogee Times Democrat newspaper. Soon they moved to California where they first ran a dairy farm for a year before buying and running a Cafe.

They were blessed with 3 children, Sharon, Ronnie, and Jim. Lewis was in the Air Force and during that time they were stationed in England 3 for years and then Alaska. Their family took multiple 3 week holidays where they traveled and explored Europe and Africa. They then lived in Selma, Alabama before finally moving back to Oklahoma. Once they were back in Oklahoma, they owned and operated the Capitol Motel, followed by running a rental property company in Midwest City, and then some years later the two started an antique business.

After traveling the world and working in all types of fascinating jobs, Carra decided to go back to school and earned a Nursing Degree from OSU Technical College and became an RN. She would go on to work for a few different hospitals but spent the majority of her career at St. Anthony's. Carra made countless friends and great memories during her time as a nurse. After more than 20 years she retired, and that gave her the opportunity to spend more time with her family.

Carra absolutely loved her family. She had so many wonderful stories with her cousins, aunts, and uncles. The Austin family had many large reunions in California that drew in family from all over. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. They were her favorite hobby.

Carra was an active church member deep in her faith. She was a Southern Baptist and attended Trinity Baptist, Beverly Hills Baptist, and then Canadian Valley Baptist Church. She loved Charles Stanley and was a huge charitable supporter of the Prison Fellowship Ministry. Every morning and evening included bible readings and devotions, and she constantly shared the word of God.

Physical and mental health were a priority for her. She walked daily with her husband through Nichols Hills and continued to walk 2 miles a day on her treadmill until the last few months of her life. At age 88, she hiked more than 350 steps up to the top of Moro Rock in California. Carra always focused on healthy eating habits. She stayed consistent with her diet and never steered away, including her night-cap of one scoop of ice cream and a chocolate chip cookie.

Later in life, Carra stayed close with her surviving friends and family. Hour long phone calls were commonplace and the love and pride that she had for them was paramount. She also enjoyed traveling and exploring the state, enjoying the history and great food. She and her friends, Colleen and Tai, would often take trips around the state sightseeing and eating at unique restaurants.

Cara was preceded in death by her husband Lewis; her parents Leber and John; her daughter Sharon; her sons Ronnie and James; her sister Bobby; and her brothers Bud, Chuck, and Johnny.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Lisa; her grandchildren Cassandra, Jeff (Crystal), Darrin, and Carson; her great grandchildren Kerry (Brady), Ashlie, and Jordan (Whitney); and her great great grandchildren Rylan, Tristan, Gracelyn, Robbie, Cooper, Oakley, Sawyer, and Waverly.

Carra had a servant's heart and was always finding ways to help others. Her presence will be deeply missed but she will never be forgotten.
