Carrie Geraldine (Kliewer) Scott passed away July 17, 2012 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 95. She was born February 14, 1917 in Gotebo, OK to David G. and Marie (Jantzen) Kliewer. Her family moved to a farm near Clinton at the age of 4. She spoke no English, only German when she started the first grade. She learned to speak English while attending school. While attending Clinton High School she
boarded with families in Clinton. In order to pay for her room and board, she would clean and cook for those families before and after school. She married H. Wayne Scott and worked as a dental assistant as he began a business. Carrie was actively involved in and became president of the Women's Society of Christian Servie for the state of Oklahoma. She was a staunch Republican, a staunch Methodist, a world traveler, a basketball player in high school and an avid OU sports fan. She held OU season tickets for 54 continuous years and was presented with an OU Jersey during half time. She and her husband felt education was very important and they funded several family members to attend college and set up trust funds for education for their great grandchildren. She was a fierce competitor at sports competitions and during family card games. She was even ousted from some competitions for verbally abusing the refs. We were proud of her feisty spirit that has been inherited by all family members. Carrie survived four different battles with cancer; she showed and passed her strength and assertiveness to all of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne Scott, daughter Eleanor Liles, grandson Kevin Shriver, four sisters; Viola, Grace, Mary Ann, and
Ida, and her son-in-law Larry White. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy White Eaton, her grandchildren; Donna Neeley and husband Bob, Dorothy Ray and husband Joe, Laura McGouran and husband Jim, Tiger White, and Rick Rollans and wife Stacy, her 19 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, and her many nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives and friends. A special thanks to the caregivers at Epworth Villa Green Neighborhood for the love and care shown to Carrie. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Church of the Servant UMC 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd, OKC. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
