Obituary

Cassidy Jane Sholer February 28, 1984 ~ July 20 2021 Cassidy Jane Sholer was born in Arlington, Texas. She was the adoptive daughter of Jeanie Cooper and Chris Sholer. She was a vibrant, inquisitive, creative, articulate youngster. She started talking at nine months old, and her first word was "moon." She grew into a young child who loved to act out stories, wear costumes, create stories and play with others. She loved others and had many friends. She was loved and encouraged by her God Mother, Jane Jayroe. She attended Casady School, and Heritage Hall School where she continued to be inquisitive and extremely creative. She took dance, singing and art lessons. Her paintings won numerous awards. She loved her art teacher Marilyn Mason. She was a big fan of Lynn Adams' Children's Theatre, where she spent many happy summers performing. She went to Summitt Middle School, and was thrilled to meet so many friends who were interested in art and theatre. She took theatre from Jamie Brewster and loved it. She was in the children's chorus in Evita in Lyric Theatre's production. She went to Santa Fe High School where she was the only Freshman cast in the- all school play, The Complete Works of Shakespeare, Abridged. Her sense of comedy and her complete abandon on stage made her a showstopper. She was in Grease and was cast as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing her sophomore year at Santa Fe. She went to Classen SAS her Junior and Senior years and played Heddy LaRue in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying and Hannigan in Annie. Her teacher and coach Terry Veal was a favorite acting teacher of hers. Billie Thrash was a drama coach, Regina Dowling a singing coach and Sue Ellen Reiman her improvisation coach. She entered numerous drama competitions winning first place in several events. She appeared in Harold and Maude at Carpenter Square Theatre and continued to work as a counselor at The Oklahoma Children's Theatre. She was in the "young company" with Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park. In 2005 Jane suffered a diving accident that rendered her a quadriplegic. She fought the results of the devastating tragedy for the next sixteen years continuing to be funny, creative, poetic and sometimes struggling with depression. Her birth parents found her in 2012 and brought with them five siblings whom she adored. Her birth father, Lon Pinkard and his wife Laura have been extremely loyal to her. She lived in Ft. Worth for two years where she could be close to them. She loved them dearly. She could light up a room with her energy, her sense of humor and her beauty. She had the most beautiful blue eyes in the world. She was a fighter and fought almost every day of her life. There were down days, but she continued to go on. The last five weeks of her life she went to a wonderful program at Oakwood Springs, where she met many great friends and received much encouragement and guidance from the fabulous staff there. She was loved by many, and will be missed by all. Donations can be made to: Savannah Station Therapeutic Riding Program P.O.
