IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cathy Mae
Smith
September 10, 1956 – January 17, 2025
Cathy Mae Smith, born on September 10, 1956, in Kennett, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on
January 17, 2025. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nettie Nichols and James Nichols; her brother, Jim Nichols;
her sister, Lola Brantley; her niece, Barbie Baugus; and her nephew, Tommy Nichols.
She is survived by her Love, Frankie Smith; her four beloved daughters, Jacqueline Gajarski and husband
Michael, Betty Weightman and husband Robert, Jerri Harris and husband Phillip, and Nettie Irvin; as well
as 13 cherished grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.
Cathy was a woman of dedication and compassion. For many years, she operated an in-home daycare
where she lovingly cared for countless children. Her loving spirit left a lasting impression on the lives of
those she cared for. Later in life, she extended her caregiving nature to nursing homes and home health
care. In these roles, she found deep fulfillment in serving others with kindness and grace.
Above all else, Cathy embraced her role as Nana with boundless love. Her grandchildren and great-
grandchildren were the light of her life. She treasured every moment spent with them and took great joy
in their laughter and milestones.
Cathy's memory will forever remain a source of comfort to those who knew her. Her legacy of love,
selflessness, and kindness will continue to inspire all whose lives she touched. May she find peace in the
arms of the Lord as her family carries forward the lessons of love she so generously shared.
