Obituary

Cecil Eugene "Gene" Aycock, of Oklahoma City, passed away on October 8, 2009 at the age of 92. He was born October 12, 1916 in Capulin, New Mexico to his parents, James Albert and Minnie Ella Aycock. In 1918, the Aycock family moved to Colorado. Gene graduated from high school in 1935. Due to the affects of the "Dust Bowl", the family was forced to leave the ranch, so they reunited with family in Cleveland County near Norman, Oklahoma to farm. Sensing a ministerial calling on his life, Gene graduated in 1937 from Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia and began his ministry. He was ordained in 1938 by the International Pentecostal Holiness Church and continued to serve congregations in Oklahoma for 25 years. In 1964, Gene received his teaching certificate and taught at John Glenn Elementary in Oklahoma City for 13 years until his retirement in 1980. Gene served in various leadership capacities, including Elder, at Crossroads Church for 40 years. Gene was preceded in death by his: • Parents; • And Siblings: Frank Aycock, Bill Aycock & Don Aycock. Gene is survived by his: • Son, Galen Aycock; • Daughter, Marcia Aycock; • Siblings: Mattie Lou Reagan, Gladys Lunow and Don Aycock; • Grandchildren: Matthew Aycock and Melissa Zeager; • And Great Grandchildren: Emily Aycock and Owen Zeager.
