Charles Eldwyn Bradley of Newcastle, Oklahoma died July 20, 2021. He was born June 11, 1935 in Enid, Oklahoma. Charles was the youngest of seven children of Harry D. and Elsie Laverne Eckleberry Bradley of Jefferson, Oklahoma. He attended Jefferson Schools where he was active in the usual activities. Twice he was part of the National Champion 4H Livestock Loss Prevention Demonstration Team. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1952. He was a 4-H Key club Member in 1952.
Charles held an Associate Degree in Horticultural Technology from Oklahoma State University and had completed an Internship in tropical horticulture at The National Tropical Botanical Gardens, Kauai, Hawaii. He also held Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master of Pharmacy Degrees from the University of Oklahoma. He held a Doctor of Pharmacy and license to practice Pharmacy for 61 years.
He was President of his Senior Class in Pharmacy College and was President of the Oklahoma Society of Hospital Pharmacists. His other interests included the Oklahoma Rose Society, Sooner State Iris Society, Woodworkers Club and he was a Master Gardener. He enjoyed competing in artistic arrangements of the American Rose Society Shows.
Charles worked in community Pharmacies in Duncan, Norman, Shawnee and Mustang. He was Pharmacist and Director of Pharmacy and Patient Care Supplies at University Hospital and Children's' Hospital from 1961 to 1977. He was also on faculty of the Oklahoma University College of Pharmacy and Oklahoma University School of Nursing. In 1967-68 he was honored as the Outstanding Faculty Member at the School of Nursing. He became Pharmacy Consultant for the Oklahoma State Department of Health in 1977 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1989.
He served on the Moore Municipal Hospital Board for Several Years. He was President of the Board in 1978 and 1979. Charles also taught in the Pre-Pharmacy Technology Program at Canadian Valley Technology Center for thirty years. He was a Cub Scout Leader, a Weblos Leader, a Boy Scout Leader and a Boy Scout Division Representative.
He was ordained a Deacon in the Episcopal Church in 1990 and was assigned to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostles in Oklahoma City. He served that community until his retirement in 2007. He also served St. James Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City.
In 1960 Charles and Sharon Knight Morgan were united in marriage. They had one son, Benjamin Merrill Bradley. Charles was preceded in death by his wife Sharon; his parents; three brothers: Leland Harry, Melvin Lynn and Clayton Eugene & three sisters: Gladys Laverne Moore, Helen Marie Nichols & and Norma Jean Barton. In 1978 Charles and Beverly Fisher were married, they divorced in 2005.
Charles is survived by his son, Ben and wife Rhonda; grandson, Michael and wife Kristie; grandson, Lucas and wife Erika; granddaughter, Skylar; great-granddaughters: Leah, Macy and Lynnlea and grandsons: Colton and Cooper. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
